Sophistocated and Sweet!

I was just thinking that some women like to wear more "serious" tones to work. So I sat on my studio and created these two amazing pieces that will leave all your coworkers with their mouths open...

I chose some blue and brown quartz, they have some shine in them; which makes them stand out... They are particularly feminine and chic...
Enjoy!

New Necklaces for the Summer

Late night work usually brings the best pieces... I am so proud of these ones! The upper one is a combination of multicolored quartz, Swarovski crystals and cloisonne flower charms. All with a beautiful three bracelet combination and matching earrings! Perfect to wear it during the day or night!

This pink quartz piece makes me think of Cherry Blossoms, we are getting close to that time of the year... Very classic tones, you will be able to wear them for many years! Earrings included.

Last but not least, my favorite piece of all! This 3 strand turquoise and clear quartz necklace, the tear drop quartz just make it so playful! Perfect to wear it with jeans and a white shirt!

Let know what you think!

Wearable Art

I was in New Orleans to celebrate White Linen Night, and I could not let the opportunity of wearing one of my favorite Sugar Blush creations slipped through my hands.

This flower fascinator is a combination between a flower tulle, Swarovski crystals, and geese feathers. It is so simple, but so chic at the same time that I felt like a million dollars! Plus it stayed on all night without a retouch.

You can get your hands on this amazing pieces at www.sugarblushjewelry.com

Delicate Flowers

I have been obsessed with one of our latest hairpins, this pheasant feathered hairpin with white and pink fresh water pearls, tiger's eye and Swarovski crystals is just the perfect accessory for day or night... no matter what season, I have been wearing it to go out for dinner, then again to go to the theatre, even to take a stroll in the park! Always get lots of compliments....

New Hampshire, unexplored treasure!

After long thought of what to do for the 4th of july, my husband and I decided to go somewhere we had never been before... Considering that we wanted to get away from the horrible weather of Houston and also the fact that we wanted to take our puppy with us, our options were limited...
so after exploring on expedia some deals, we decided that New Hampshire was the perfect spot and it really was!

After a 4 hr plane ride from Houston to Boston, we took a rental car and drove to Ashland in the middle of New Hampshire; it is such a beautiful little town... super puppy friendly. We found a great restaurant/bar/music hall called Common Man. Then we stayed at the amazing Glenn Inn, bead and breakfast! Which gave us a puppy dog for Thomas, sooooo cute!

Thomas made many friends from various parts of the country, he was so spoiled! We enjoyed fireworks with a bottle a Veuve... and read books, played cards, and enjoy each others company!
It was trule spectacular!

Holderness best gourmet town store, they have the biggest selection of home made fudge I have ever seen! Plus delicious quirche and sandwiches!

Happy 4th of July!

Daily Happy Hour at the Glenn Inn!

Soooooo Hot in Houston!

It has been horrible weather all around Texas for three weeks now! I feel so bad because I have a King Charles Cavalier puppy, who loves to walk to the park to go the bathroom, hates pee pads! Refuses to use them when it is too hot for him to walk outside; last time we tried to make him go inside the house he will go right next to it!!!

So today, after we walked for 15 mins to get to the park and then 15 mins back in 104 degrees, we both deserved a treat.... blue bell rainbow icecycle!!! we love it!

Need a meal in minutes?

I discovered Bertolli's frozen dinners last year while watching Hell's Kitchen I believe... And I decided to go to the supermarket and look for it...

I have to tell you that it is the best frozen meal I have ever tried, I love to cook my meals, but sometimes I don;t have enough time or I don;t feel like cleaning up after the mess of cooking, so I always keep Bertolli's frozen meals in the fridge.

They serve two people and their presentation is amazing, everything come frozen in individual cubes for the sauce, then the pieces of meat are nice and chubby and it even has herbs!

I usually keep a stash of every day wine bottles that go perfectly with these pastas! Ready in 15 mins, excellent quality of food!

Just another afternoon

Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T

Yesterday afternoon I told my husband Daniel we should go to our terrace which we never use, and enjoy the sunset...

Well I grabbed some cheeses, strawberry compote, a nice chilled bottle of white wine, and our travel size Backgammon kit! So off we go Thomas, D and me to enjoy our wine and play Backgammon, which I lost like 5 times!

Great summer tip:
LLano wine, made in Texas, $10-$13 per bottle, goes perfect with a sunny and hot afternoon.
We also picked a blue cheese, smoked gouda cheese, parmegiano, and some sort of cheese with garlic, rosemary and herbs which melted in our mouths!

Amzing afternoon for $40, lovely time with your family!

Latin Gala!

Here we are after hours of preparation! It is a shame you can not see the fascinator I worked so hard on more clearly.. but this is my mom, my sister and me.

It was a night filled with culture, excitement and mucho baile! The band was an amazing latin music band from Dominican Republic; I have not heard a better latin band since I moved to the US.

The evening ended with $500k of funds raised for the museum to use in bringing more Latin American works of art, and developing their wonderful work amongst the community.

We hope to be able to join them again in 2011 when the next gala would be chaired.

Now, I need to stop by Create and Barrel, they just started their semi annual sale! Many goodies to bring home!!!

Green Thumb!

I have been thinking for a while to start my own vegetable garden, I could make up my mind of where to put it and what to put in it; but now we found the perfect place!

Family owned farm in College Station, Tx; after cleaning what appeared to look like an old garden, we discovered four parcels that would be perfect for our initial project, "herbs".
We got a rosemary bush, parsley, basil, oregano, sage, mynt, all kinds of peppers and some tomatoes..

It was hard work, but after two days of digging and planting this is how it looks like! Thomas was a big help, when he was not checking and stealing our little plants!

Any suggestions on what we should plant next?

Houston dwellers!

Hello to all of our Houston readers!

I would like to let you know about this amazing restaurant downtown called Angelo's; it is located at Main St. and Walker. They just hired a new chef from Italy to create an amazing "Express" Menu for all of us downtowners.

The menu is easy, light, and fast. It includes a lot of items like: Marinated Vegetable Salad with Rosemary Grilled Chicken; Carrot and Ginger Soup if you would like something lite; if you are a little hungrier you should try the Skillet Steak. And the best part of all is that everything is under $11.00, can you believe it?

You can pair your dining experience with a glass of wine or a cocktail as well.

Then in the afternoons you can enjoy some live music at the patio seating at the terrace; from monday to friday there are different bands that play from 4:30pm until 10:30 pm; free wireless internet connection; free printing; and amazing coffee and over 21 varieties of tea! What else can you ask for??

Oh yes, they open at 6:30 am when you can get freshly baked bread and pastries; they will also offer delivery for free for downtown residents!

Stop by and let us know about your experience!

Thomas Made it!

Today poor Thomas my 5 month puppy had to get a surgery procedure, he was born with a umbilical hernia and he needed to get it removed. After a couple of hours of operation and lots of phone calls to the vet, he came out of the hospital at 4:3o pm.

On the way home the poor thing was falling asleep in the seat still from the anesthesia, as soon as we got home we took a short nap and when he woke up we ate two rations of his food and was running around in circles, he was supposed to be resting! I don;t know what they gave him on that iv!

But my husband and I are very glad he is back home with us!
love you Thomas!

Cold weather, Rockets lost, what else can ahppen in houston....

After finishing a wonderful weekend with old friends, their new babies, and picking up crops at the farm from my garden, we come to the en d of the weekend and what a bad way to close it all up... The rockets lost horribly to the lakers in a game that was not even close!

A cold front is going through Houston, which has made my allergies go nuts! and my puppy needs to get surgery on tuesday, I will have to say there are many things going on in H-town.

On the bright side of the weekend we just took our new collection of hairpieces over to Shyn Salon and we are looking forward to placing them in many other bridal stops, like make up parlors, photographers offices, and others! If you know somewhere we could send our stuff to please let us know!

Have a great weekend!

Styling the seas!

With this economic crisis I have learned to find great bargains! This past Sunday, mother's day, and my husband's bday as well; we decided to go out to Galveston to enjoy some piece and quiet by the sea.

Freaking out because it was the first weekend of our now "inaugurated" summer I was wondering what to wear; quickly I went to my computer and found not only this amazing wrap up from Anthropologie.com for $49.00 but also the cutest fishing shirt for Thomas @ Target.com

Lots of wine and fancy cheese! Eight hours after sailing off the marina, we were a happy family; you should check out some great deals at: jcrew.com; anthropologie.com, and h&m.com, you can't miss the summer specials!

Back In Htown!

I am back in Houston and my welcome present was Rockets losing to Lakers by almost 15 points on the third game of the second round of playoffs.

We were watching the game with some friends in a bar on midtown/River Oaks area, and I was stunned by the amount of women who seemed to be dragged out of bed to go and have a drink. I don't know if my recent trip to Guayaquil, where every woman dresses so nicely even to go to the supermarket. Made me realize that maybe people in bigger cities have lots their sense of individuality.

I might understand that the fact that sometimes, we feel like just a number between million of other women in Houston, and that might make us think we are unidentifiable, but that is not at all the case at all!

Dressing nicely to go out even to grab a burger at the Jack in the Box makes you feel sexy, confident, and makes you stand out from the crowd. I know it is hot and humid in this city, but that is no reason to loose that femininity that we are entitled as women! Take advantage of it and let's rock this town!

Cristi's Bday!

Today we went to celebrate my sister's 22nd bday to el tiempo, mexican food, arriiiiiiba! So good, we shared fajitas with all of our get friends, had some margaritas and of curse cupcakes for dessert! I don't know how cupcakes fit in the equation, but they were amazing!

For her present I chose the Felix Rey for Traget beach tote bag, have you seen it? It is a bargain, it has the cutest fish in gold and silver with rihinestones in their eyes, perfect or the summer season that is about to start! And it was a bargain.

She was so excited, I am so glad she had a great time! The reason I was mentioning the place where we went is bacause in this economy you should be consious on what and where you spend it. Our bill was $27 per person with one margarita, mixed fajitas, and a guacamole to start with! We ate in 2 1/2 hours, had a great time, lots and lots of girly talk! Best $30 bucks ever!

You should consider it when you are planning a night in town!

Refreshing Weather

Houston has been 70 degrees and under for the last two days after that horrible weather we had last weekend.

The air smells nice and clean, clear skies, and a sense of spring is felt in the streets of crowded downtown Houston, not many people wearing colors yet, but hey first time I went to a luncheon on a thursday morning in the middle of may I was the only one there wearing white! So to tell you the least I have had a quite difficult time letting go of the bright colors, tshirts and skirts thing Miami planted in my style.

But I hope we will start to see some more of it as temperatures start to increase in HTown!

Have a great day and send us your comments!

Washington, NYC too much for 4 days!

After jumping on a plane to Washington D.C. to join my husband on a work trip, I was astonished by the beauty of the city, the weather could not have been better, the vibe was amazing, felt very refreshed and ready to come back to Houston with a great entrepreneurial feeling inspired by the blooming of the cherry blossom trees.

We visited the National Museum briefly due to other arrangements made by the conference and realized how much history lays inside the buildings of Washington that go unknown by so many Americans.

On friday the sky was clear and we walked on the bay, enjoying a nocciola ice cream and looking at the marine 1 tour the skies multiple times by no apparent reason. When we finally had to go to the airport we were shocked with the news that Houston was getting hammered by a horrible storm and our flight would be delayed undefinately. Do we decided to get on a plane to NYC and leave from there the next day...

Everything was fine until we boarded the plane and when we were ready for take off, we pulled back to the gate to let some passengers into ur plane so they could get to their connecting flights in NY; that whole or deal took around 2 hours of being grounded. We finally land in NYC at midnight and immediately head to Cafe Pastis for a bite to eat and then partied for a little bit, catching up with old friends.

Went to bed at 4am, woke up at 9am, brunch and left at noon to finally head back home, we get in the plane about to leave and guess what!? we get grounded again! we got off the plane, supposed to be there for 3 hours, then they changed their minds and got back in the plane after one hour and flew back... It took us 2 hours more than usual to get to Houston, we land the plane and we can't get off it because we don't have a gate! so we are stuck in the plane infront of our gate for 2 more hours! bla bla bla

Finally at 9:45 pm we got home! exhausted, smelling like plane, and starving, needless to say we never got anything to eat or drink while we were waiting! unbeleivable! do you have a story that can top mine? would LOVE to hear it!

New Inspiration..

As we all know after you have been down there is nowhere else to go but up; and that is the mentality we are keeping at Sugar Blush Jewelry after the lost of our dearest friend Fredrick.

In mid february we took an inspirational trip to Europe to search for new ideas to create sensational pieces for our clients, our first stop Rome, Italy. Chaos, noise, and art come one in the metropolitan area of Rome, in between of dreamy fountains, exquisite sculptures, and lots and lots of wine, we found that Romans have a great sense of humor, love for life and lots of individuality.

After walking from one extreme to the other on Plaza Venetto zipping on my cappucino, I think is time for chic meets timeless elegance, I am thinking on developing some pieces using lots of gray tones, mixed with some sparky elements like pearls and crystals to add that touch of vidality you find on every corner of Rome.

The roman gardens, indoor lagoons, and hidden passages also gets me to think women are ready to be playful and mistique, colors like blue, green, lilac, fucsia, and pink are main ingredients to be girly and shy, but sexy and chic atthe same time if worn appropriately. Of course a touch of vintage is always welcome!

Keep checking our site for updates, we will be uploading our new pieces soon!

Good Friend's Good Bye

To all the people who have followed this blog since I started it last year, I would like to tell you that last saturday my little Fredrick Von Sandwich was victim of a terrible car accident in a farm outside of Houston, despite the doctor's effort to save his life there was nothing that it could be done... Our little Freddy is resting now, taking care of his mommy and daddy from heaven.

I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and words of encouragement for our family.
