Soooooo Hot in Houston!

It has been horrible weather all around Texas for three weeks now! I feel so bad because I have a King Charles Cavalier puppy, who loves to walk to the park to go the bathroom, hates pee pads! Refuses to use them when it is too hot for him to walk outside; last time we tried to make him go inside the house he will go right next to it!!!

So today, after we walked for 15 mins to get to the park and then 15 mins back in 104 degrees, we both deserved a treat.... blue bell rainbow icecycle!!! we love it!

Need a meal in minutes?

I discovered Bertolli's frozen dinners last year while watching Hell's Kitchen I believe... And I decided to go to the supermarket and look for it...

I have to tell you that it is the best frozen meal I have ever tried, I love to cook my meals, but sometimes I don;t have enough time or I don;t feel like cleaning up after the mess of cooking, so I always keep Bertolli's frozen meals in the fridge.

They serve two people and their presentation is amazing, everything come frozen in individual cubes for the sauce, then the pieces of meat are nice and chubby and it even has herbs!

I usually keep a stash of every day wine bottles that go perfectly with these pastas! Ready in 15 mins, excellent quality of food!

Just another afternoon

Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T

Yesterday afternoon I told my husband Daniel we should go to our terrace which we never use, and enjoy the sunset...

Well I grabbed some cheeses, strawberry compote, a nice chilled bottle of white wine, and our travel size Backgammon kit! So off we go Thomas, D and me to enjoy our wine and play Backgammon, which I lost like 5 times!

Great summer tip:
LLano wine, made in Texas, $10-$13 per bottle, goes perfect with a sunny and hot afternoon.
We also picked a blue cheese, smoked gouda cheese, parmegiano, and some sort of cheese with garlic, rosemary and herbs which melted in our mouths!

Amzing afternoon for $40, lovely time with your family!

Latin Gala!

Here we are after hours of preparation! It is a shame you can not see the fascinator I worked so hard on more clearly.. but this is my mom, my sister and me.

It was a night filled with culture, excitement and mucho baile! The band was an amazing latin music band from Dominican Republic; I have not heard a better latin band since I moved to the US.

The evening ended with $500k of funds raised for the museum to use in bringing more Latin American works of art, and developing their wonderful work amongst the community.

We hope to be able to join them again in 2011 when the next gala would be chaired.

First two days went by beautifully!

We have been very busy over here, one day of shopping therapy with mom, great deals to take advantage of at Joseph's in Uptown Park; then also Saks and Neiman's had pretty good deals.

Bests buy.. Michael Kors super high heels, with light brown straps, and golden studs. With a suede matching belt!

Now, I need to stop by Create and Barrel, they just started their semi annual sale! Many goodies to bring home!!!

Stop by if you are around Houston!

Green Thumb!

I have been thinking for a while to start my own vegetable garden, I could make up my mind of where to put it and what to put in it; but now we found the perfect place!

Family owned farm in College Station, Tx; after cleaning what appeared to look like an old garden, we discovered four parcels that would be perfect for our initial project, "herbs".
We got a rosemary bush, parsley, basil, oregano, sage, mynt, all kinds of peppers and some tomatoes..

It was hard work, but after two days of digging and planting this is how it looks like! Thomas was a big help, when he was not checking and stealing our little plants!

Any suggestions on what we should plant next?

Houston dwellers!

Hello to all of our Houston readers!

I would like to let you know about this amazing restaurant downtown called Angelo's; it is located at Main St. and Walker. They just hired a new chef from Italy to create an amazing "Express" Menu for all of us downtowners.

The menu is easy, light, and fast. It includes a lot of items like: Marinated Vegetable Salad with Rosemary Grilled Chicken; Carrot and Ginger Soup if you would like something lite; if you are a little hungrier you should try the Skillet Steak. And the best part of all is that everything is under $11.00, can you believe it?

You can pair your dining experience with a glass of wine or a cocktail as well.

Then in the afternoons you can enjoy some live music at the patio seating at the terrace; from monday to friday there are different bands that play from 4:30pm until 10:30 pm; free wireless internet connection; free printing; and amazing coffee and over 21 varieties of tea! What else can you ask for??

Oh yes, they open at 6:30 am when you can get freshly baked bread and pastries; they will also offer delivery for free for downtown residents!

Stop by and let us know about your experience!
